Last month Sharp Airlines in conjunction with EastWest Airlines announced the suspension of the air service between Griffith and Melbourne (Essendon) due to the unforeseen magnitude of the COVID-19 impacts.

Today, we are pleased to announce that Sharp has secured limited funding under the Federal Government's COVID-19 Regional Airline Network Support (RANS) program.

The RANS program will provide funding to operate two weekly flights between Griffith and Melbourne for six weeks and this may be extended for up to six months if future applications for funding (within the program) is approved.

Flights will run on each Tuesday and Friday starting from 1st May.

The CEO of Sharp Airlines Dallas Hay said he was pleased the Federal Government recognized the importance of the air service linking two cities.

"Health Specialists from Melbourne will again be able to fly to Griffith and provide essential services to the community during the COVID-19 crisis”.
