Queensland fruit fly has been found in Tasmania. To date, the Furneaux Group of islands (which includes Flinders Island) is one of two areas in the State where it has been detected. The other area is centred on northern Tasmania. Control Areas have been set up to stop the movement of fruit fly host produce around Tasmania. The entire Furneaux Group of islands is a Control Area and conditions apply to the movement of host produce both on and off the Furneaux Group. No uncertified fruit fly host produce can be taken to the Furneaux Group from mainland Australia or from other Control Areas in Tasmania and no host produce can be taken off the Furneaux group.
