Sharp Airlines has announced that it is increasing passenger seat and freight capacity to and from King Island from Launceston and Burnie (Wynyard) commencing 8th February. 

Since 2012 Sharp Airlines has been operating up to 15 services per week to King Island from Launceston and Burnie (Wynyard). During this time passenger numbers have reached new records with Sharp Airlines carrying in excess of 15,000 passengers and 500,000 kilograms of freight annually.

Sharp Airlines also connects King Island to Melbourne (Essendon) with daily flights. 

With the advent of world class golf courses, complemented with Australia finest natural foods, rich history and pristine coastlines an increasing number of people from all walks of life have King Island as a must see must do experience and destination.

CEO of Sharp Airlines Dallas Hay said the airline would be increasing capacity initially by 30 seats per week however it is expected that this will increase further along with demand.

Sharp Airlines (Sharp) operates over 250 flights per week with 15 aircraft servicing 5 States in the Airline, Charter and FIFO market.

In Tasmania, Sharp Airlines employs more than 35 people including aircrew, maintenance, and administration and reservations staff and has a capital investment in excess of $6m.

All services are operated in the high-speed turbine propelled Fairchild Metroliner aircraft.
